Background on the Trelleborg Group

The Trelleborg Group is a global engineering group. The group employs 23000 people who, based on advanced polymer technology and in-depth applications know-how, develop high-performance solutions to seal, damp and protect in demanding industrial environments. The turnover in 2008 was SEK 31 billion.

Hjemmet Mortensen is going through a process where they are reducing the number of employees from 95 to 65. They have closed down an entire shift on each of the grand rotation printers. They have accepted a 10% reduction in salaries. They have also reached a profitable criterion in international competition, and this has caused the owner to precede the conduct of operation. And how did the company do this?

"One of the reasons Hydro Aluminium Primary Production had a record-setting operating year in 2007 was because our management team was able to lift our focus to a new level. TPG was an active participant in this process. Their contribution enabled us to release new potential through working together to find solutions across "factory borders", thereby eliminating silo-thinking."
