Leader program for new leaders – Aker Subsea Lead Academy

Aker Subsea’s program gives foundational training in leadership and business management. The program is very popular and boasts long waiting lists. The Peformance Group is responsible for the first and last part of the program, which has a special focus on leadership and being a leader for the first time. The modules consist of four days of training, all together. Aker Subsea is responsible for the modules in between, which focus on their typical technical issues and core business.

Here we meet with Competence manager Torhild Heibø Bratset for a short conversation while she and two TPG consultants plan the program for 2012.

“The leaders tell me that TPG runs the best part of this program,” Torhild explains, “and that the level of the course has been lifted by having in professionals from outside the Aker system. Participants get to throw themselves in to exciting exercises, and they experience that trying new things is not so dangerous. The experience of mastery gives self-confidence, and everyone wants to try more, and learn more.”

When we ask how she experiences cooperation with TPG, Torhild answers quickly:

“This is the fifth course we have started, and we would never have continued with TPG had we not been satisfied,” Torhild explains, “ You are so positive to work with, you bring in concrete solutions and give us exactly what we need. And, the participants are very happy”, Torhild Heibø Bratset concludes.
